Kolberg Year celebrations appreciated
27 May 2015
We are happy to inform that the Institute of Music and Dance together with the Fryderyk Chopin Institute and the Oskar Kolberg Institute has received a honourable mention in a plebiscite for The Historical Event of 2014 for the organisation of the Kolberg Year celebrations.
The awards gala took place on 26 May 2015 at the Palace on the Isle in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw. The plebiscite winners are "Krakowscy Wyklęci", "Projekt: Pilecki", and the opening of the Museum of Silesian Uprisings in Świętochłowice.
This year, the jury of the plebiscite, run by the Polish History Museum, had to choose from 200 submissions coming from across Poland and abroad. They selected top fifteen events, but the final verdict was decided by online voting in which over five thousand people took part.
The Historical Event of the Year is a Polish national plebiscite dating back to 2007, when it was launched by historia.org.pl. Its objective is to recognise authors of the most interesting history-related projects in three categories.
The plebiscite's honorary patron was Professor Małgorzata Omilanowska, Poland's minister of culture and national heritage.
