New website on Oskar Kolberg

The Oskar Kolberg Institute in association with the Institute of Music and Dance in Warsaw has launched a new, Polish and English website on Oskar Kolberg and his work, www.oskarkolberg.pl. You will find there the folklorist's biography, an interactive map charting the geographic scope of his monographs and their content, as well as hyperlinks to the websites of other institutions and events related to Kolberg.

The website contains a searchable electronic database of melodies found and recorded by Kolberg. The database now contains 2700 tunes, but the mechanism is fit to store 25000, and the project will be continued in the future.
