Poland at WOMEX in the Kolberg Year
23 October 2014
A CD insert in Songlines magazine featuring Polish folk music, Vołosi band's performance, and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute's expo stand – these are the highlights of Poland's participation in the WOMEX world music expo in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
The event, lasting from 21 to 26 October, gathers musicians, performers, and traditional, folk, and world music managers from across the globe. Especially for the expo, the Institute of Music and Dance in Warsaw together with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute has released a CD titled Discover Poland that will be inserted in the October issue of Songlines magazine. The album contains 18 recordings by such artists as Warsaw Village Band and Studium Instrumentów Etnicznych.
Vołosi, a leading Polish folk band, are the only Polish act included in the WOMEX showcase festival, and will perform at the Salon Teatro on 23 October. Those who visit the expo stand of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute will have a chance to listen to the new album, which features both traditional and film music. The events are taking place during the Oskar Kolberg Year.print
