Website on traditional Polish music gets a makeover

30 March 2015

Marking the Kolberg Year, the website www.muzykatradycyjna.pl was reconstructed, becoming more user-friendly and easier to develop further in the future. The site is a source of updates and a valuable ethnomusicology reference. The most important content has been translated into English.

On MuzykaTradycyjna.pl you will find information on current events, educational programmes, and developments related to traditional music. An interactive map will help you to locate them across Poland.

In the Kolberg Year, the website's editors focused in particular on developing Leskykon (Lexicon), a section whose core is made up of biographical information about Polish folk musicians. But you will also find there full papers on traditional music, information about relevant publications, institutions, organisations, and archives. A new section Dźwięk i Obraz (Sound and Vision) was created to present films, photographs, recordings illustrating the musical culture of the Polish countryside, charting its transformation, and outlining new contexts.

The project has been implemented by the Numinosum Foundation and the Institute of Music and Dance in Warsaw.
